Sand Cowl-neck Sweater
This is a basic hem-up stockinette pullover with waist-shaping, set-in sleeves, and a cowl neck. The yarn is a recycled silk/cotton/acrylic blend - very soft, light, and warm. I was aiming for 0″ ease, but forgot that with cotton stretching and all, it will never stay at 0″ ease.

With a great sigh of relief, I can finally say that baby sweater is finished, gifted, and much loved by the grandmother and recipients. Actually, i finished the sweater about two weeks after my last post (middle of January) and promptly forgot how to log on to WordPress. Really.

Norgi Baby Sweater
Pattern:
Baby Norgi (
On Ravelry
Yarn: Knitpicks Essential Bare and Elann Sock it to me (navy and steel blue)
Needles: US2

Mods: Made it into a cardigan and shifted the beginning of the round to the center front. The last four rows of the reindeer chart I did in duplicate stitch, because the floats were so long. I’m not convinced it looks better. The folded button bands look very nice, but are a bit too heavy for the rest of the sweater. Note to self: Colorwork takes three or four times longer than texture. PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
I have joined NaKniSweMoDo (rav link), and am currently ahead of schedule with 3.5 sweaters. Look for more posts very soon.

A friend at church was just blessed with her first grand baby, a boy. She wanted to give him a sweater, but does not herself knit. I told her this would be easy, a baby sweater - no problem. A week, possibly two it would take me, forgetting that my last baby sweater was knit at worsted gauge, and she wanted something in fingering. Something in fingering, with stranded color work, and steeks (a first for myself), and folded-over button bands. Now, I know all the theory for these techniques, and have at least tried most of them. Two-and-a-half months later, I am still working on the blankety-blank thing.
This gives me something to think about as a start a new site, self-publishing patterns, and a regular blog. I know all the theory behind these endeavors, but I don’t have much experience. Hopefully they will not turn into one vast Virtual Sweater of Doom.
